Pitcher Montana DuRapau is being promoted from the Altoona Curve to the Indianapolis Indians, this according to Pirates Prospects’ Sean McCool.
The Pirates discovered DuRapau in the 32nd round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Bethune-Cookman University. That year, he was used mostly as a starter with the Pirates former short season affiliate the Jamestown Jammers, where he put up a 2.21 ERA, along with a 1.05 WHIP in 61 innings pitched.
Since then however, DuRapau has pitched exclusively in relief, emerging as one of the better homegrown relievers in the Pirates system. The numbers for DuRapau this season have been exceptional, posting an ERA of 1.49, with a .209 batting average against and a 9.7 K/9 in 27 appearances for Altoona.
