The Pirates have announced that Dovydas Neverauskas has been recalled from AAA Indianapolis. Johnny Barbato is being optioned back to Indy as the corresponding move.
After joining the Pirates organization in 2009, Neverauskas was called up to the Bucs in April of this year, becoming just the second Lithuanian born player to reach the big leagues. In 21 appearances with Indianapolis, he has posted a 3.58 ERA, along with a 1.45 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.1.
Barbato was acquired by the Pirates in mid-April from the New York Yankees for either a player to be named later or cash. The 24-year-old right-hander struggled in 15 appearances with the Pirates, as he put up an ERA of 4.84, an 89 ERA+ and a 5.88 Fielding Independent Pitching.
