Stephen Alemais to Play Some Second Base for West Virginia Power

Pirates prospect Stephen Alemais will be playing some second base this season for the West Virginia Power, this according to Pirates Prospects.

The Pirates drafted Alemais as a third round selection last year out of Tulane University. Baseball America considered him one of the best defensive players in the 2016 draft class.

The defense was certainly on display last season, as he committed just a total of eight errors in 211 chances with both West Virginia affiliates, all of which came at shortstop. The offense is a work in progress however, posting only a .592 OPS a year ago. Alemais’ defensive abilities are outstanding at short, so he shouldn’t have much problem playing second base.
