Here is a recap of what went on involving the Pirates from this week.
Tuesday: Starling Marte was named the Rawlings Gold Glove winner for National League left fielders for the second year in a row. Marte is now just the fifth Pirates outfielder to win a Gold Glove more than once, joining Roberto Clemente, Barry Bonds, Andy Van Slyke and Dave Parker.
Also on Tuesday, Pirates beat reporter Adam Berry mentioned that the Pirates discussed a multi-year extension during the season with Neftali Feliz. Last offseason, he signed a one-year deal with the Pirates. Feliz pitched well for the most part and is going to be one of the better relievers on the free agent market.
Wednesday: MLB.com’s Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo compiled a list of Top 10 general manager prospects. Pirates Assistant GM Kyle Stark was rated third on the list. Stark has been in the Pirates organization since 2007. He was promoted to Assistant GM in 2011.
Thursday: After participating in the World Baseball Classic in 2013 for Korea, Jung-Ho Kang will be playing in the 2017 WBC, this according to Jae-Ho Kim of MK Sports.
Saturday: Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that Derek Holland is interested in signing with the Pirates. The 30-year-old lefty has spent his entire big league career with the Texas Rangers. Holland recently had his $11 million club option for 2017 declined by the Rangers.
