On Wednesday, MLB.com’s Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo assembled a list of Top 10 General Manager prospects. Both Callis and Mayo surveyed more than a dozen baseball officials to compile the list of executives without GM experience. Pirates Assistant GM Kyle Stark was ranked #3.

After Neal Huntington was named Pirates General Manager in September of 2007, he brought over Stark from the Cleveland Indians to serve as the Farm Director. The 38-year-old Stark was promoted to Assistant GM in September of 2011 and has been in the role ever since.

Over the last few years, most baseball publications have had the Pirates farm system ranked in the Top 10. The most notable contributors are of course Huntington, Stark, fellow Assistant GM Greg Smith and Latin American Scouting Director Rene Gayo. With the combination of player development experience, as well as being involved in an organization who is heavy on analytics, Stark could find himself as a GM in the near future.
