According to a team press release, the Pirates have acquired Brady Dragmire from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.
Dragmire was drafted in the 17th round by the Blue Jays in 2011. Baseball America rated him as the 16th best prospect in the Jays system after last year. He spent the entire 2016 season pitching exclusively in relief for AA New Hampshire where he posted a 4.38 ERA along with a WHIP of 1.47 in 45 appearances. Dragmire does have an intriguing arm, as he throws a mid-90’s fastball that can top out at 97 mph with sinking action. He’ll likely return to AA next season to pitch for the Altoona Curve.
