The Pirates have announced the probable starters for their doubleheader on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark. Jameson Taillon will get the nod in Game 1, while Trevor Williams is going to make his first big league start in Game 2.

Williams had a terrific first season in the Pirates organization after coming over from the Miami Marlins. Despite a shoulder issue in April, he put up solid numbers, posting a 2.42 ERA along with a 1.19 WHIP and a .249 batting average against in 21 games (20 starts) for the Indianapolis Indians.

As expected, the Pirates added Williams to the 40-man roster as a September call up. He made his MLB debut last Wednesday in relief where he pitched three scoreless innings versus the St. Louis Cardinals. His second appearance wasn’t good, as he allowed three earned runs to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Williams’ last start was September 1st against the Louisville Bats, a game in which he struckout a career high ten batters.
