Pirates GM Neal Huntington announced on his radio show that Chad Kuhl will be recalled from AAA Indianapolis to start the series opener on Tuesday versus the San Diego Padres.
Kuhl has pitched most of this year with Indianapolis where he’s put up a 2.37 ERA along with a 1.16 WHIP in 16 starts. He made his big league debut on June 26th against the Los Angeles Dodgers. In four starts with the Pirates, Kuhl has posted an ERA of 4.19 with a 1.24 WHIP.
On Saturday, the Pirates made a somewhat surprising move by trading Arquimedes Caminero to the Seattle Mariners. With Jeff Locke headed back to the bullpen to essentially take the place of Caminero, Kuhl will rejoin the rotation, and most likely remain there for the rest of the season.
