Pirates pitching prospect Mitch Keller has been voted the best pitcher in the South Atlantic League for 2016.

Keller was a second round selection of the Pirates in the 2014 MLB Draft. Prior to being drafted, he had a commitment to pitch at the University of North Carolina, but decided to begin his pro career by signing with the Bucs for $1 million.

This year marks Keller’s first full season, and he’s been outstanding for the West Virginia Power. His 3.02 ERA is sixth best in the SAL, while his 0.96 WHIP is tops in the league. Keller is currently the Pirates #6 prospect in MLB Pipeline’s recently updated prospect rankings.
