The Pirates have called up Josh Bell from AAA Indianapolis, this according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman.
Bell entered 2016 as the Pirates third best prospect according to MLB Pipeline. The 23-year-old switch-hitter has been very productive this season for Indianapolis, as his .324 average and .942 OPS are both tops in the International League.
The likely scenario is for Bell to start at first base and have John Jaso moved into a reserve role, which would make the Pirates bench even more strong. Should that happen, Josh Harrison would probably bat leadoff against right-handed pitching.
