The Pirates have announced that they have agreed to sign their first round selection Will Craig. The signing bonus is right at the full slot amount at $2.253,700 million.
Craig was drafted as a third baseman out of Wake Forest. He’s the first college third baseman to be taken in the first round by the Pirates since Pedro Alvarez in 2008. This season, Craig put up an astounding .537 on base percentage, while hitting 16 home runs for the Demon Deacons. Because of his 6’3, 235 lb frame, most scouts think he’ll be moved to first base eventually, despite having a strong throwing arm at the hot corner. The Pirates have said that Craig will begin his pro career in Morgantown for the West Virginia Black Bears.
