Jonathan Brubaker has been promoted to the Bradenton Marauders, this according to a West Virginia Power team press release.
Brubaker was drafted by the Pirates last year as a sixth round selection out of Akron University. The 22-year-old right-hander put up good numbers this season for the Power, posting a 3.48 ERA and had a batting average against of .241 in 12 starts.
The biggest improvement for Brubaker in 2016 has been the strikeouts, as he struckout 77 batters in 62 innings for an 11.2 K/9, which led the South Atlantic League. That’s incredible when you consider that he only had a 6.0 K/9 last season with the West Virginia Black Bears. I recently just did a post on Brubaker being a Pirates prospect to keep an eye on moving forward.
