The Pirates have announced that Jameson Taillon has been called up and will make his Major League debut on Wednesday against the New York Mets.
Taillon was the Pirates first round selection in the 2010 MLB Draft. It’s been a long journey for the 24-year-old righty, having to recover from Tommy John surgery in 2014, as well as a hernia procedure last year.
Entering 2016, Taillon was rated the Pirates #4 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. Despite missing two full seasons, he was phenomenal in ten starts for AAA Indianapolis, as he posted a 2.04 ERA along with an 0.81 WHIP, a K/9 of 9.0 and held opposing batters in the International League to a .196 average.
