According to Pirates head trainer Todd Tomczyk, Ryan Vogelsong had to leave Monday’s game with a left eye injury.
Vogelsong was used as a spot starter after Juan Nicasio had started Sunday’s game, which was postponed following a rain delay that took a little over three and a half hours. While batting in the second inning, Vogelsong was struck in the face by a 92 mph fastball from Colorado Rockies starter Jordan Lyles. He was replaced by Wilfredo Boscan, who pitched four innings of relief. Vogelsong this season has posted a 3.74 ERA, but has a high WHIP of 1.53 in 21.2 innings pitched.
