West Virginia Power outfielder Casey Hughston has been sent to Extended Spring Training, this according to John Dreker of Pirates Prospects.
Hughston was selected by the Pirates in the third round of last year’s draft. The former Alabama Crimson Tide really scuffled after joining the West Virginia Black Bears, as he put up a .578 OPS and had a 29.1% strikeout rate. Hughston began this season with the West Virginia Power, and the struggles have continued, posting just a .465 OPS along with a very high strikeout rate of 35.2% in 34 games.
