According to the MLB and MiLB transaction pages, the Pirates have optioned Jason Rogers to AAA Indianapolis.
Rogers didn’t make the Opening Day roster as a reserve, and began the season with Indianapolis. The 28-year-old first baseman went on a tear versus AAA pitching, as he put up a 1.118 OPS in 11 games with the Indians.
Following the release of Michael Morse in late April, the Pirates called up Rogers shortly after to serve in a first base platoon with John Jaso for the time being. In 17 plate appearances, Rogers posted just a .603 OPS. The decision to send him back to AAA most likely means that Jung-Ho Kang could rejoin the Pirates on Friday in St. Louis.
