Cole Tucker is expected to make his season debut next week for the West Virginia Power, this according to Tim Williams of Pirates Prospects.
Tucker was recovering from surgery that he had last August to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The original diagnosis had the Bucs 2014 first round selection missing most, if not all of 2016, so the fact that he’s returning in May is very remarkable. Tucker played in 73 games last season for the Power where he batted .293 with an OPS of .699 and had 25 stolen bases. MLB Pipeline currently has him ranked as the ninth best prospect in the Pirates system.
