Trevor Williams has been put on the disabled list with shoulder discomfort. Meanwhile, Jhondaniel Medina will take his spot on the roster, as he’s been promoted from AA Altoona, this according to the Indianapolis Indians’ official Twitter account.
Williams was acquired from the Miami Marlins this past offseason. He was set to join the all prospect rotation that the Pirates had assembled for Indianapolis. Last Sunday, the Indians took on the Columbus Clippers in a doubleheader. Williams was scheduled to pitch Game 2, but sustained the shoulder injury in the very first inning.
Medina was obtained by the Pirates from the Baltimore Orioles in a trade for Yamaico Navarro in November of 2012. The 23-year-old Medina spent last season pitching for Altoona, posting a 2.76 ERA along with a 1.27 WHIP in 45 appearances.
