By Jason Shetler

With the recent call ups of A.J. Schugel and Rob Scahill to Pittsburgh, the Pirates have promoted John Kuchno from AA Altoona to AAA Indianapolis. Taking Kuchno’s spot on the Altoona roster is Frank Duncan, who was with High A Bradenton. John Dreker of Pirates Prospects reported both moves.

Kuchno was drafted by the Pirates in 2012 as an 18th round selection. The 6’5 righty pitched all of 2015 with Altoona, putting up a 3.46 ERA and a WHIP of 1.29 in 40 appearances. Kuchno had pitched two games with the Curve prior to the promotion.

Duncan was taken in the 13th round by the Pirates in the 2014 draft. Last season, he appeared in 27 games, 25 of which were starts, posting an ERA of 4.32 along with a 1.40 WHIP for the Bradenton Marauders.
