Pedro Florimon has officially cleared waivers and was outrighted to AAA Indianapolis, the Pirates have announced.
Florimon entered Spring Training looking to battle for a roster spot as a utility infielder. Despite having a good Spring performance and also being out of options, the Pirates rewarded Cole Figueroa with the final bench spot instead. Florimon was then designated for assignment on Opening Day to clear space on the roster. Last season, he appeared in 24 games with the Pirates and his most notable at-bat was of course the dramatic game-winning RBI triple versus the Arizona Diamonbacks.
