The Pirates had themselves a day/night split-squad. The first game was played in Fort Myers with the Pirates getting blanked by the Minnesota Twins 3-0.
Kyle Lobstein threw four innings and gave up a pair of runs. He also had a double.
Rob Scahill allowed one run in his two innings of work.
Cory Luebke and Jim Fuller each pitched a scoreless inning.
Cole Figueroa was 2-for-3.
Antoan Richardson and Jake Goebbert both went 1-for-4.
In the other game, the Pirates were in Bradenton to host the Tampa Bay Rays and lost by a score of 3-1.
Francisco Liriano pitched 4.2 innings while giving up three runs.
A.J. Schugel pitched two shutout innings.
Curtis Partch and Trey Haley each tossed a scoreless frame.
David Freese hit his first home run as a Pirate.
Elvis Escobar went 2-for-3.
John Jaso goes 1-for-2 and drew a walk.
The Pirates will stay in Bradenton tomorrow to take on the Baltimore Orioles at 6:05 ET.
