Pirates Spring Training Report 3/21

The Pirates had their first split squad of the Spring today. The one team was in Bradenton to take on the Atlanta Braves and lost by a score of 7-3.

Francisco Liriano went 3.2 innings while allowing four runs and striking out five. He was the first Pirates pitcher this Spring to homer.

Jorge Rondon pitched 2.1 innings and did not allow a run.

Eric O’Flaherty tossed two scoreless innings and struckout four.

Jordy Mercer collected a pair of hits.

Gregory Polanco was 1-for-4 with a run scored. 

Jose Osuna goes 1-for-2 and also came around to score. 

Erich Weiss had an RBI double.

The other Bucs squad traveled to Fort Myers to face the Minnesota Twins and came away with a 2-0 victory.

Juan Nicasio pitched five shutout frames and struckout eight batters.

Neftali Feliz threw a couple of scoreless innings.

Chris Stewart went 1-for-2 and scored on a throwing error.

Starling Marte and David Freese were both 1-for-3.

Elvis Escobar was 1-for-2 with a double and scored a run.

Jake Stallings also went 1-for-2 and drove in a run.

The Pirates will have a scheduled day off tomorrow.
