The Pirates have announced that Austin Meadows had surgery on Thursday to repair an orbital fracture. The timetable for his return will be six to eight weeks.
Meadows sustained the fracture on March 8th during a workout playing catch. The injury is the exact same that A.J. Burnett had in 2012. Meadows enters this season as the Pirates #2 prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline. Once he returns, he’s expected to be with the Altoona Curve.
