The Top 10 third base prospects list has been released by MLBPipeline.com. Ke’Bryan Hayes made the Top 5, coming in at fifth best.
Hayes was a first round supplemental pick by the Pirates in last year’s draft. The son of former Pirate Charlie Hayes performed very well in his first professional season. In 56 games combined with the Gulf Coast League Pirates and West Virginia Black Bears, Hayes batted .308 while posting a .754 OPS. On the defensive side, he was above average, as he put up a .961 fielding percentage. Hayes possesses a very strong arm, which should keep him at third base moving forward.
