MLBPipeline.com has ranked the Top 10 second base prospects. Alen Hanson made the list coming in at #6.
The Pirates signed Hanson as an amateur player out of the Dominican Republic in 2010. The 23-year-old switch hitter has been the Pirates top middle infield prospect since 2013. Hanson spent all of last year with AAA Indianapolis where he posted a .701 OPS in 117 games. His 35 stolen bases were tied for most in the International League. Hanson is expected to join the Pirates at some point this season. He’ll most likely be used in a utility role to play second base, third base, shortstop and maybe even the outfield.
