Pirates Reportedly Scouted International Cricket Player

According to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Pirates were among 14 teams that scouted former International cricket player Kieran Powell on Wednesday in Bradenton, Florida. 

Powell is a 6’3, speedy outfielder who played cricket for the West Indies. He has spent the last five months training at the IMG Academy, which is located in Bradenton. Powell has recently had tryouts with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets. Pirates Director of Player Personnel Tyrone Brooks and Latin American Scouting Director Rene Gayo were on hand to scout Powell.
