Pirates Release Casey Sadler

By Jason Shetler

Casey Sadler has been released by the Pirates, this according to Matt Eddy of Baseball America.

Sadler was drafted by the Pirates as a 25th round selection in 2010. The 25-year-old righty made his debut for the Bucs in 2014 where he posted a 7.84 ERA in six appearances out of the bullpen. Sadler made a spot start for the Pirates last season after Francisco Liriano went on paternity leave. He made 13 starts for AAA Indianapolis in 2015, as he put up a 4.22 ERA along with a 1.20 WHIP before landing on the disabled list in June. He had Tommy John surgery in October, and will miss the entire 2016 season.
