Red Sox Reportedly Offered Radio Job to Tim Neverett

By Jason Shetler

According to multiple sources within the industry, the Boston Red Sox have offered Pirates broadcaster Tim Neverett a job as their radio announcer.

The Red Sox made a surprising decision by not renewing the contract of Don Orsillo. Their previous radio broadcaster Dave O’Brien will replace Orsillo on TV play by play, which now leaves an opening for the radio position.

Neverett joined the Pirates broadcast team in 2009, as he replaced the legendary Lanny Frattare. He’s best known for his Pedro Alvarez home run call “El Toro Strikes Again!”. Neverett is from the New England area, so I imagine taking the Red Sox offer would be a dream job for him.
