The Pirates have announced that Deolis Guerra and Wilfredo Boscan have been re-signed on minor league deals. Both pitchers had elected free agency in October.
Guerra spent most of last season pitching for AAA Indianapolis where he posted a 1.23 ERA along with a 0.79 WHIP in 25 appearances. He made his big league debut in June with the Pirates, posting an ERA of 6.48 in ten games. Guerra was designated for assignment in August, and had been claimed by the Cleveland Indians, but was returned to the Pirates because of a knee injury.
Boscan pitched 126 innings this past season, all of those with Indianapolis. The 26-year-old righty put up a 3.07 ERA with a WHIP of 1.39. Boscan was called up to the Pirates on three different occasions, but never got to pitch for them at any point.
