Austin Meadows Named Second Best Prospect in the AFL

By Jason Shetler

MLB.com’s Jim Callis came out with his list of the Top 20 prospects in the Arizona Fall League, and has Austin Meadows ranked second best.

Meadows right now is the Pirates #2 prospect in the system according to MLBPipeline.com. The 20-year-old outfielder played for both High A Bradenton and AA Altoona this year where he combined to hit .310 along with a .781 OPS in 127 games. Despite Meadows posting just a .502 OPS in the AFL, scouts have still been very impressed with his skill set. During the AFL Fall Star Game a few weeks ago, Callis made mention on the broadcast that he considered Meadows the best all-around hitter in the AFL, so it’s not really a surprise that he was placed that high in the rankings.
