Brad Lincoln has decided to elect free agency, this according to Pirates Prospects John Dreker.
Lincoln returned to the Pirates organization last offseason on a minor league contract. The former first round pick of the Bucs was their top pitching prospect in 2007, which was at a time when the Pirates farm system was really depleted. His best season was in 2012 pitching out of the bullpen. The Pirates traded Lincoln at the trade deadline that year to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Travis Snider. This past season, Lincoln posted a 4.18 ERA and had a very high WHIP of 1.67 in 60.1 innings for AAA Indianapolis. He did not pitch for the Pirates this time around.
