Pirates GM Neal Huntington told Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that pitcher Casey Sadler underwent Tommy John surgery after the season.
Sadler was taken in the 25th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Pirates. The sinkerball righty made his Pirates debut in May of 2014. He pitched in six games for the Bucs, all of which were in relief. Sadler didn’t make the club out of Spring Training this past season, but did make a spot start in April after Francisco Liriano went on paternity leave. Before going on the disabled list in June, he made 13 starts for AAA Indianapolis where he posted a 4.22 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP. Sadler is now the sixth pitcher in the Pirates organization in just the last two years to have Tommy John performed.
