The Pirates have announced that Josh Harrison has been activated from the disabled list. Pitcher Josh Wall has been designated for assignment as the corresponding move.
Harrison was placed on the 15-day DL in early July after suffering a thumb injury. Prior to the injury, he batted .279 along with a .696 OPS and had an OPS+ of 92 in 75 games. Harrison played in five rehab games with the Indianapolis Indians. With the acquisition of Aramis Ramirez, Harrison will be on the bench as a super utility.
Wall was called up by the Pirates a couple days ago to serve as an extra pitcher in the bullpen, but wasn’t used. In 24 appearances for Indianapolis this season, Wall has posted a 2.93 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP. He will most likely clear waivers.
