The Pirates have announced that Travis Snider has been signed to a minor league deal.

Snider was traded by the Pirates to the Baltimore Orioles in late January for pitching prospects Stephen Tarpley and Steven Brault. The trade was widely criticized at the time, because Snider had a very good second half last year, and seemed like a reliable option to have as a fourth outfielder. Snider performed well early on with the O’s, but eventually regressed as the season went along. He was designated for assignment and wound up being released by Baltimore this past weekend. Snider will head to AAA Indianapolis and should be called up by the Pirates in September.
