The Pirates have announced that outfielder Jaff Decker has been called up from AAA Indianapolis as the corresponding move for pitcher Wilfredo Boscan.
Decker entered Spring Training looking to compete for a spot on the Pirates bench, but an injury to his left calf foiled those plans. He also suffered a right hand sprain in April, and was put back on the DL. Despite the injuries, Decker has performed well this season for Indianapolis, posting a .364 on base percentage along with a .751 OPS in 54 games.
Boscan was recalled to Pittsburgh prior to last Sunday’s game as an extra arm out of the bullpen. Steve Lomardozzi was sent down in the process. Boscan was never used, and was optioned back down to Indy on Monday.
