Today began the International Signing Period for Major League clubs to go out and sign amateur free agents. The Pirates got theirs by signing Larry Alcime Jr. for $350,000, this according to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com.

Alcime is a 16-year-old right-handed hitting outfielder from the Bahamas, who’s listed at 6’2, 200 pounds. There really wasn’t any additional information I could find, but he did participate in the Power Showcase Home Run Derby at Marlins Park last year, so he must have some kind of raw power.
