A few weeks ago, Pirates Prospects reported that Pirates minor league utility man Walker Gourley announced his retirement from baseball.

Gourley was drafted by the Pirates in 2009 as a 13th round selection. The 23-year-old spent last season playing for the High A Bradenton Marauders, where he posted just a .601 OPS in 102 games. He also appeared in four games as a relief pitcher. In his six seasons in the Pirates system, Gourley had a .609 OPS in a total of 409 games played.
